Father’s Day Picnic and 2025 Election Results

June 15, 2025 — Arlington, VA

ATA-DC’s annual Father’s Day Picnic brought together nearly one hundred members of the Turkish-American community at Quincy Park for a day filled with joy, connection, and shared heritage. Guests of all ages—from children to grandparents—enjoyed delicious Turkish cuisine provided by Akivva Grill and Fairfax Bakery, while celebrating fathers and community spirit under the summer sky.

A highlight of the event was the recognition of thirty-one high school students who completed the Young Cultural Ambassadors Program (YCAP), ATA-DC’s signature youth initiative fostering leadership, diplomacy, and civic engagement. The day also marked the announcement of ATA-DC’s newly elected Board of Directors for the 2025 term, led by President Sevtap Schreffler. In appreciation of outstanding service, Özge Övün Sert and Elvan Ramazanoğulları received the Excellence in Community Service Award.

President Schreffler expressed gratitude to all who participated, noting, “With this incredible team of community leaders and culture builders, we’re excited to continue strengthening Turkish-American ties and expanding our impact across the DMV and beyond.” The picnic beautifully combined celebration with civic pride—an embodiment of ATA-DC’s mission to unite generations through culture and community service.
