ATA-DC’s annual spring fundraiser was a dazzling throwback to the colorful 1980s, hosted by Özlem and Hüseyin Akkaya at their home. Nearly fifty members and friends gathered for a night filled with neon outfits, iconic Turkish pop hits, and laughter echoing through the evening air. Themed “Back to the ’80s,” the event transported guests into an era of joy and nostalgia, where tidy trousers, oversized earrings, and classic tunes by Sezen Aksu, Nilüfer, Tarkan, and Mustafa Sandal set the rhythm for an unforgettable night.
Guests were treated to a vibrant evening of dance and camaraderie, complete with delicious homemade dishes prepared by board members and community volunteers. Deha and Gizem from Universal Deha Academy added playful energy with face painting and an impromptu Zumba session that had everyone on their feet. The Best Dressed Contest brought a cheerful twist, crowning hosts Özlem and Hüseyin Akkaya as the winners for their standout ’80s attire.
